March 21 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Join this deep-dive presentation, hosted by ECG Management Consultants’ Oncology practice, to learn more about oncology market trends that experts are seeing nationwide – pressures that will only grow as the demands for cancer services rise with an aging population. Specialized industry experts will discuss how different organizations have found opportunities for success within this ever-evolving and challenging cancer care landscape. This session offers practical guidance for health system providers and administrators to learn what oncology programs should be thinking about – strategically and operationally – to best position for future success and sustainability.

Presenters: Ian Dumont and Meagan O’Neill

Ian Dumont, Associate Principal, ECG Management Consultants is a healthcare strategist who partners with health system leaders to develop impactful growth strategies by way of enterprise strategic planning, new-venture analysis, new-market entry and go-to-market strategy development, and partnership planning and execution. Ian is viewed by his clients as a go-to leader for engagements where no prior roadmaps exist, often addressing intractable issues and navigating white spaces. He strives to translate conflicting ideas and perspectives about clinical operations and research into a clear path forward, combining quantitative and qualitative analyses with human-centered design to turn stuck problems into sticky results.

Before joining ECG, Ian was an engagement manager at Chartis within its Strategy practice. In this role, he advised AMCs, children’s hospitals, and integrated delivery networks (IDNs) on enterprise and service line strategy development, clinical program development, growth strategies, partnerships, governance redesign, and care model innovation. Most recently, Ian worked with a national IDN to evaluate and prioritize organic, acquisitive, and de novo growth opportunities for three major service lines. He also built three separate forecasting and market analysis tools to identify and size national growth opportunities, the findings from which were synthesized into comprehensive growth plans to drive over $1 billion in growth over five years.

Meagan O’Neill is an Associate Principal at ECG Management Consultants. Blending her policy background and analytical expertise, Meagan helps clients take advantage of opportunities in their markets to improve the delivery of healthcare. Meagan has over 12 years of experience serving as a strategic adviser and consultant for healthcare organizations, which she calls upon to help hospitals and health systems gain a comprehensive understanding of the issues they are encountering and identify actionable and lasting solutions.

At ECG, Meagan assists providers with strategic planning, service line development, organizational restructuring, partnership arrangements, physician alignment transactions, business case feasibility studies, and patient access optimization. Meagan’s detailed understanding of key service lines, such as oncology, combined with her experience leading broader, system-wide strategic initiatives, enables her to approach the complexities of program planning and implementation with a holistic perspective.

Meagan is a leader in the firm’s Oncology Services practice and has led dozens of strategic and operational engagements for cancer centers within both the academic and community settings. Having served as a caregiver for family members with cancer, Meagan is passionate about partnering with her clients to pursue meaningful changes that will advance the delivery of oncology medicine and create a better care experience for this vulnerable patient population. As a result of both her work and personal experiences, Meagan is committed to helping cancer programs navigate the challenges of a rapidly evolving field and determine opportunities that will ultimately lead to more sustainable and successful care models for the communities they serve.
