Hospitals and health systems, especially not-for-profits, are under increasing scrutiny to demonstrate their effectiveness in serving the needs of their communities. This is especially important for community members who have been historically marginalized and underserved. Today’s health system strategic partners should incorporate robust equity, community stewardship, and low-value care measures into their analytical portfolios. The Massachusetts Health Data Consortium will demonstrate how these additional analyses create a more complete picture of hospital and health system performance and areas for strategic planning.

David Delano is the Senior Director of Services and Security Officer for MHDC, with over 36 years of experience in health informatics, information technology development, integration and interoperability, systems management, and Executive IT leadership. Before joining MHDC, David served as health-system CIO for Northern Berkshire Healthcare (North Adams Regional Hospital and Affiliates), was a principal consultant for the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC), and the Executive Director of the New England Healthcare Exchange Network (NEHEN), a self-sustaining, regional health information exchangenetwork transacting primarily administrative data between healthcare payers and providers.
