Baystate Health seeks an experienced digital marketing strategist to direct marketing, digital strategy and consumer engagement for this comprehensive regional health system based in Western Massachusetts. As a key member of the marketing and communications leadership team, the Director of Marketing and Consumer Engagement will develop and implement strategic marketing plans that advance Baystate Health’s institutional priorities, growth goals and reputational brand as an integrated health system committed to expanding access to high quality care, enhancing patient experience, being a workplace of choice, and teaching the next generation of physicians and researches through its partnership with UMass Chan School of Medicine.
The Organization: As the largest healthcare provider in Western Massachusetts, Baystate Health annually cares for 850,000 people, employs nearly 13,000 workers, and trains approximately 800 medical students, residents and fellows as well as hundreds of future nurses and allied health professionals. Offering the full array of health services, this 1,000-bed hospital system includes: Baystate Medical Center, a teaching hospital with the region’s only Level 1 trauma center; Baystate Children’s Hospital, the region’s only accredited, full service children’s hospital; and three community hospitals. Position Summary: Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and partnering with the Director of Communications and Strategic Content, the Director Marketing and Consumer Engagement (Director) develops marketing strategies, plans and deliverables for the System and its hospitals and services that ensure optimal consumer engagement. The portfolio of responsibility includes consumer marketing, digital and website content management, social media, creative/design services, and community programming. Providing inspirational leadership to a team of 13, the Director ensures effective collaboration with key stakeholder-clients who are responsible for championing strategic priorities and growth goals – establishing, monitoring and measuring KPIs, and making mid-course corrections as necessary.
Qualifications Summary: BA/BS degree; 10+ years’ progressive experience in strategic marketing, preferably in healthcare, academic or service industry environment; management and staff supervision; deadline-driven, client-focused project management; writing and editing skills; and solid track record of accomplishment designing and executing strategic marketing and consumer education plans that include web, mobile, and creative/design components. The ideal candidate is energetic, personable, self-directed, highly organized and data-driven, and able to be a credible and trusted advisor and thought partner, working collaboratively across the organization with transparency, discretion and integrity to build strong, respectful working relationships.
